Miss Ellis County 2007, Faith Bates and Teen Texas
2007, Callie Thompson were special guest on the
opening day at the State Fair of Texas. Both Faith
and Callie arrived in downtown Dallas for the big
opening day parade which would travel down Commerce
Street for several blocks. |

|
We felt that Faith and Callie were in GREAT hands with the
Marines to watch over them while they waited for the parade
to start at noon on Friday. |

|
The float that was to carry our Princesses down Commerce
Street was ready and waiting for them. All we needed was a
driver. |

|
I think Faith and Callie really wanted the Corvette, but I'm
not sure we would have seen them for awhile. |

|
Ronald McDonald gave his two thumbs up for both Faith and
Callie. Thanks Ronald, we'll be sure to visit your house
again this year to see all your special kids. |

|
Our four Marines head the parade followed by the Marine
Band and the Dallas Police Mounted Patrol and then our
two beautiful Queens on their float. |

Callie and Faith as they
passed by us at the end of the parade. Looking
really GREAT ladies. |

After the parade is over we all meet Faith and Callie
under the Central Expressway Bridge . Faith, Shelli,
Bruce, Jim and Sherry all head over the State Fair
Grounds, but Callie has to head back to Houston for a
high school football game that night. Jim, who is
usually on the other side of the camera takes a few
minutes to get into one of the pictures with Faith and
Callie before everybody heads their separate ways.
Thanks Callie for coming all the way from the Houston
area for the parade. |

After a "quick" change of clothes we all arrive at the
State Fair Grounds ready for something to drink and some
lunch. Can everybody say "State Fair Corny Dogs" and
lemonade. Or maybe even some Texas Nachos with lots of
peppers. |

|
After lunch, Bruce Wallace who is a Viet Nam Veteran
took Faith and Allison to the Texas Viet Nam Memorial on
the State Fair Grounds to show them some of the names of
the friends he lost during the war. I even get some
American Flags and put them by the names of some of my
high school friends that lost their lives in Viet Nam. |

|
Bruce gives Faith a quick geography lesson on Viet Nam
and all the places that he was stationed during his tour
of duty in Viet Nam. |
