Cassidy gave up part of her Valentine’s Day to visit several veterans at the Dallas VA Hospital for the “National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans” week.
Before starting our rounds to see the veterans, Cassidy paused for a picture with two gentlemen at the VA Information Desk.
In some of the rooms she had to take extra precautions before going into the room. Maybe we’ll consider this for a possible evening gown.
 In one of her first rooms to visit, she finds an Army veteran who was really pleased that she came by to visit with him.  
This veteran was a nurse during WW II and was a real character to talk to during our visit. We probably could have stayed in her room for 2-3 hours with all the stories she had to tell us.
Some of the veterans could not even sit up, but they were still very happy to see and talk to Cassidy for a few minutes.
Cassidy was always eager to talk to the veteran and gave them Valentine Day cards that had been made by some of the contestants that participated in our Little Miss Ellis County Pageant two weeks ago.
 Everybody got a smile, an autographed picture and a few moments of happiness to bring a little cheer into their day.

Two of our favorite people pictured with Cassidy at the VA Hospital, Sue Wolfe and Donna Fischer. Thanks for inviting us to the VA Hospital to visit with all the veterans today.
 Volunteers are such a big part of all our lives, especially here at the Dallas VA Hospital and with the Miss Texas and Miss America Organizations.
One of our favorite pictures to take with our Miss and Teen Duncanville titleholders is with a former Miss Duncanville whose picture graces the walls in the hospital.
Thousands of valentines with good wishes hung in the entrance hall of the hospital. Hopefully these cards brought a little happiness into the lives of those who have to be here.
All branches of the service are cared for here at the hospital. Maybe we got to see one from each of these fine services today.
As we get ready to go out the front door two more volunteers wanted their picture made with Cassidy.
 And of course they always want an autographed picture.
