January 26, 2008

SATURDAY morning rolls around and we finally get to see Cassidy who flew in last night from California. Cassidy receives her sterling silver Miss America Crown Necklace this morning just like Lana did last Tuesday night.
Our first stop is the Miss America Trade Show where we find Heather French and her Miss America crown from 2000.
Cassidy also finds Faith at the Trade Show on Saturday morning with one of her close friends, Elizabeth Kinney who was Miss Oklahoma 2004 and crowned Jennifer Berry.
Cassidy waste no time looking through all the great deals at the Trade Show. After we finish at the Trade Show we head up to Sherry Hill’s suite to look for an evening gown and a talent dress for Cassidy.
On the way into the Saturday night Miss America finals I grab a quick picture of the back side of the Monte Carlo Hotel and the effects of the Friday morning fire. The hotel will be closed for at least 30 days for repairs.
Miss Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen, Jasmine Murray had the honor of performing the National Anthem at the Miss America Pageant for the final night of competition in Las Vegas.
There were 22 former Miss America titleholders that graced the Miss America stage on Saturday night before the competition began.
Just a small part of the audience at Miss America on Saturday night…
Mark Steines of “Entertainment Tonight” who is the host for the 2008 Miss America Pageant on Saturday night stands outside the Planet Hollywood Hotel before the pageant starts.
Molly is called out as one of the Top 15 finalist and the Miss Texas group goes wild out in the audience.
OK… The Top 15 have been called out, but wait… The general public was able to vote and select a 16th contestant to participate in the Saturday night finals and it none other than Miss Utah, Jill Sevens who is a combat medic in the U.S. Army and was nick-named “G.I. Jill” by her fellow contestants.  I think she just might be a little surprised…
There you have them folks… The Top 16 semi-finalist in the order that they were called out… Michigan, Iowa, North Carolina, Tennessee, California, Indiana, South Carolina, Georgia, Washington, Arkansas, Virginia, Texas, Wisconsin, Florida, Mississippi, and Utah.
As the Top 16 literally run back to the dressing rooms to change for Swimsuit competition, the remaining contestants are served a huge tray of donuts to eat while they watch the rest of the pageant. Several State Executive Directors just passed out in the audience as they did this.
Miss Michigan, Kirsten Haglund is the first contestant to participate in the Top 16 in Swimsuit. You’ll see this name again tonight…
Molly is contestant number 12 in the semifinals to compete in the Swimsuit competition tonight.
Lookin’ really GOOD Molly…
The Swimsuit competition is now complete… Have you picked your winners yet?
The Top 16 are back on stage “hand-in-hand” waiting for 6 names to be called out to be eliminated from the competition tonight so we have a Top 10.
As Miss Utah’s name is called out as being eliminated from the competition, “G.I. Jill” and several of the remaining contestants drop down and give the audience and “TV Land” 10 push-ups to show their support for Jill.  This was completely an impromptu and unrehearsed event on their part. WAY TO GO LADIES…
And here are your Top 10 remaining contestants that will continue in tonight’s competition. The next event will be Evening Gown…
Molly in her Saturday night Evening Gown competition.
WOW!!! She’s still a beautiful girl in a beautiful gown. WAY TO GO MOLLY!!!
Your Top 10 in Evening Gown… Next up… Talent competition for some of the remaining contestants…
The Top 10 hurry back stage to change into their Talent costumes and they are serving more donuts to the contestants. As Miss Connecticut looks like she is in “Donut Heaven”, several more State Executive Directors passed out in the audience.
The Top 10 are back out on stage ready for Talent competition, but only 8 of the Top 10 finalist will actually get to perform their talent tonight.
