After finishing at the Texas Children’s Hospital in
Houston we make a little trek up Hwy. 59 to
Texarkana to help Mike and Donna Berry with their
pageant. We arrive just as the Friday night
rehearsals are in progress and find Jessica Haas
practicing her self-portrait on stage at the Perot
Theater with the contestants.
And Hadley Smith practicing her ballet while Jessica
draws.

Mike double checks the script with the guest emcees to
make sure everything is in order.

We all meet at Smokey Joe’s BBQ on Saturday before
Interview for lunch and the big gift exchange for
the outgoing titleholders.

box from Mike and Donna.
Of course there is always a lot of smiles and some
tears during this time.

Looks like all the Miss Contestants arrived safely
back at the Protz House for their Interview. Are you

Pageant night has finally arrived and Hadley dances
while Jessica draws a self-portrait on stage for the
opening number.
The co-emcees for tonight’s pageant are Sunni Cranfill,
Miss Texas 2003 and Jason Harper, who is the
co-anchor for Channel 7 News in Little Rock,
Arkansas and also the emcee for the Miss Arkansas
Pageant.
The first order of business tonight is to introduce
all the winners of the “Little Miss Texarkana”
Pageant that was held on Saturday morning.
Followed by the opening number from “Hairspray”
featuring Jessica and Hadley.
Although the Ellis County Scholarship
Organization is an official franchise of the Miss Texas Organization
the Miss Texas Organization is not and never has been a sponsoring agent for any
children's pageant.
