MISS ELLIS COUNTY 2008

Lana Louise Thomas
Miss Ellis County 2008

Platform: "Prevention & Care for Diabetic, Pre-Diabetic, & Obese Children"

Lana Luise Thomas is a 17 year old senior attending Faith Academy of Marble Falls with high ambitions to attend Oklahoma City University majoring in Dance Management with a minor in TV/Radio Communications/Dance.  She plans to become an entertainment talk show host along with owning her own successful dance studio.  Lana is a very talented dancer and won the talent portion of the pageant this year with her rousing tap dance to "Stuff Like That There".

Awarded the Youth Talent Development Programs overall scholarship and the regional VFW

speech scholarship, Lana is the founder and director for C-A-R-E Kids, a program for diabetic and pre-diabetic children to learn a healthy lifestyle.  She is also a volunteer coordinator with the Reach Out and Read program at the Children's Health Center.

Lana has had success not only in dance but also vocal, acting, tumbling, and tennis.  She was the girl's singles winner at multiple tennis tournaments and first in doubles at the Mason District Tennis Tournament.  Lana is a mentor and trainer for younger pageant contestants, has appeared on the Today Show, and volunteered with the Llano Memorial Hospice.

Lana feels that the Miss Texas' and Miss America Organizations are outstanding avenues to build confidence and talent for young women.  With the problem of childhood obesity rising in Texas, it is critical that Texans understand how harmful eating and exercise habits can influence their health in a negative way.  With Lana's knowledge of nutrition, exercise and diabetes, she can reach out to our future generation and help them understand, ensuring healthier citizens.
